Hi! Welcome to Meadowland Psychology Services, owned and operated by Katelyn Amiel.
Katelyn is a Registered Psychologist in British Columbia (#1035227) and Alberta (#5703). She holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, a Graduate Diploma in Psychological Assessment from Concordia University of Edmonton, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Alberta Augustana Campus. (Click here for continuing education).
Katelyn’s work is dedicated to supporting adults as they navigate challenging experiences, such as trauma, depression, stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, or grief. Her approach, rooted in cognitive-behavioral theory, centers on understanding how emotions, thoughts, and behaviors interact and impact overall well-being. Katelyn combines various evidence-based interventions, drawing from motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness techniques, to foster self-awareness and cultivate effective coping strategies.
Throughout her career, Katelyn has dedicated herself to serving others in a variety of settings. From hospitals to community and private practices, she has consistently applied her expertise to make a difference in people’s lives. Her time at the Dragonfly Centre in Bonnyville, AB was particularly impactful, as she provided individual therapy to survivors of childhood sexual abuse and sexual assault. It was there that she witnessed firsthand the transformative power of a strong therapeutic relationship and embracing a trauma-informed approach.
Before establishing Meadowland Psychology Services, Katelyn contributed her skills at the Halvar Jonson Centre for Brain Injury in Ponoka, AB. Working within this long-term brain injury rehabilitation program, she conducted cognitive and capacity assessments, facilitated psychoeducation groups, and offered individual therapy to patients with acquired brain injuries such as stroke and TBI.
In 2026, Katelyn and her family moved to Northern BC and Meadowland Psychology Services shifted to a virtual practice, serving clients in both BC and Alberta. When she is not working, Katelyn enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, playing volleyball, painting, reading, and rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Katelyn is currently accepting new clients. Individual therapy services are provided via secure video or telephone.
